Cypress Creek Campus Expansion - Austin Community College
To meet the demands of the community and regional workforce, a new classroom building combines with a comprehensive renovation of the 16-year old original campus building, to provide 42 more classes at Cypress Creek. A key objective was to redefine the main entrance to the campus and create a quality and energized collegiate campus. The new facility was sited in relationship with the existing facility to create an expansive courtyard. Landscape and hardscape of the courtyard area provides exterior spaces to support academic and extra-curricular activities from individual study to class-size groups.
The campus, which serves as a regional site for ACC’s popular Nursing Program, now includes a 10-bed nursing lab, an EMS training room, and six new science labs. This focus is part of a regional effort to support a shortage of healthcare workers throughout Texas. A comprehensive interior renovation of the original 37,000 SF building updates classrooms and provides a new exterior façade for the facility.
Additional classrooms, computer labs, administration and faculty offices, and student services support the project’s goal to provide comprehensive student services. The project meets the demands of this growing community by increasingstudent capacity 50% and creates a contemporary look for the campus.
